Abstract
Climate change poses urgent environmental and societal challenges, necessitating accurate monitoring, early detection, and predictive capabilities. Nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative tool in climate science, offering ultra-sensitive nanosensors and nanomaterials for atmospheric, soil, and water monitoring. Nanomaterial-based platforms enable detection of greenhouse gases, aerosols, heavy metals, and organic pollutants at trace levels, while integration with satellite systems supports high-resolution, global-scale observations. Data from these nanosensors can enhance climate models, improve prediction of extreme weather events, and inform mitigation strategies. Despite the advantages of high sensitivity, real-time monitoring, and portability, challenges remain, including nanomaterial stability, environmental toxicity, high costs, and lack of standardization. Future directions involve the development of biodegradable, eco-friendly nanosensors, integration with AI and IoT platforms, and establishment of regulatory frameworks. Overall, nanotechnology offers a promising avenue for precise, scalable, and sustainable climate change monitoring.
